A day of Normalcy

Saturday, August 24

Avery had a great first night back at home! We all slept in(as late as you can at our house) which means we were all up and moving before 7. The big girls had Academy Day for soccer, so we rushed to get out the door by 8:30. We grabbed a biscuit on the way and only managed to be 10 minutes late(Sorry Coach!).

Avery and I decided to run errands while the big girls practiced soccer. Only a few minutes into our drive though, her morning nausea hit, and we had to pull over. After yesterday's experience, we were well prepared with a bowl, paper towels, and cleaning wipes. After a brief clean up, we were quickly on our way. We dropped off the bags of toys and clothes that had been sitting in the back of my car for over a month now. Avery chose to go to the Car Wash next(one of her favorites). We took the time to vacuum everything out since her big sister had busted an Orbeez ball, and there were hundred of green water balls rolling around the floor and seats. Although it won't stay clean for long, it felt nice to have a clean car(at least for a few hours).

We made our way back to pick the big girls up and treated them with Doodles (ice and sorbet) before leaving. One of the girls' teammates who knew what Avery was going through insisted that she buy a Doodles for Avery(she was so sweet). Avery hasn't been eating or drinking well at all, so we have been offering whatever she would take just to get some calories in her. She lost about 2lbs in the hospital(which is a lot when you weigh less than 50lbs).

We made it home and Avery got a much needed nap, while the big girls got much needed showers.

Later in the day, Uncle Daniel and Aunt Rachel stopped by for a visit showering the girls with gifts of some of their favorite toys. Avery and Aunt Rachel made a #brAvery bracelet while the big girls made picture collages on their writing journals for school.

The rest of the day was filled with crafts and fun, and of course fighting and complaining(that's just what sisters do). We caught up on few episodes of Little House on the Prairie to end the night. Avery and I snuggled in her bed until we both fell fast asleep. I tiptoed back to my bed in the middle of the night and was full of gratitude for the wonderful day we had shared.
