Clinic Update

Writer: Lori Beth RicheyLori Beth Richey

Monday, September 28th

Avery felt good over the weekend and was even able to play outside some. She is still very weak so her legs can't hold up to all her mind wants to do.

She did perfect at clinic this morning with vitals, being accessed, and de-accessed. Her platelets look good at 100, and her hemoglobin had risen slightly from Friday so no transfusions were needed. The injections the past 3 nights had done their job, and her ANC was 15,790! Her sodium was up slightly to 141. Pending no new developments, she should be able to be admitted to begin chemo on Wednesday.

Most of her stomach issues have resolved. The g-tube has already proven to be a huge improvement in everyday quality of life. She did get sick today after drinking a milkshake, but we now know to stay away from milk products. Her new formula is an amino acid-based formula as her stomach has become very sensitive to lactose.

We will enjoy two more nights at home and head back to Clinic Wednesday morning.

Please continue to pray for:

- Protection from infection and illness

- Safety and limited side effects from next chemo cycle

- Improved scans in 3 weeks

- Improved field for radiation

Sweet Avery and Family, I don’t know you, but your story has reached me. I teach in Madison County. I just wanted to express how brave I think Ms. Avery is. May God bless your family. I pray for Avery’s health. Blessings, Rachael R.
