Saturday, October 10th
Thankfully we pushed to be discharged on Saturday instead of Friday, because, as expected, Avery spiked a fever just after midnight. They drew cultures and started her on Cefepime every 8 hours. This means that we are inpatient until her counts recover.
The day was full of stomach cramps, fevers, and a couple of episodes of vomiting. Avery feels absolutely terrible. They have added oxycodone for pain as needed, but it hasn't seemed to help much with her stomach pain. They had increased her nighttime dosage of Gabapentin as well. They did a stomach x-ray to check for blockages or anything evident that might be causing her worsening pain, but everything looked good. They continue to think that her pain is visceral hypersensitivity brought on by one of the chemos.
She has been consistently running fever all day. She maxed out at 102.5, and even with the Tylenol, I don't think she has made it lower than 100. She has been snuggled under 3 blankets most of the day.
Her platelets and hemoglobin were within parameters, so no transfusions were needed. Her sodium has remained stable as well. Her ANC has dropped to 10.
It is always difficult to see her feeling so bad especially when she was feeling great a couple of days ago, but that is the reality of childhood cancer.

Please continue to pray for:
- No positive cultures
- Relief from stomach pain
- No more fevers
- Rest
- Recovery
