Thursday, October 15th
Wednesday night was the worst night for Avery. Despite getting oxy every 4 hours with morphine in between each dose, she was still in unbearable pain. She barely slept and cried out in pain all night.
Her hemoglobin and platelets were within parameters, so no transfusions were needed today. Her ANC had dropped to 10, but her monocytes were up which is promising that recovery is on the horizon. She remained fever free all day until right at 8 tonight when she spiked again.
Due to her pain, they decided to put her on a continuous morphine drip. They also ordered another xray to rule out obstructions and other items that would require surgery. The reran some enzyme levels to check for pancreatitis again. They also decided to add in a third antibiotic, Vancomycin, to ensure all angles were covered.
She slept off and on all afternoon and into the evening. A combination of the pain meds, lack of sleep, and Benadryl(pre-med for Vanc) finally all hit her which allowed her to sleep.
If we are unable to start her feeds back tomorrow, they will put her on TPN (IV nutrition) to ensure she is getting the nourishment she needs.
Late this evening, she finally showed some signs that her pain was being better controlled. She did two puzzles and finished a craft she had started a few days ago. She received another dose of Benadryl for her Vancomycin at 10pm which helped put her to sleep.

God bless this precious little girl. She has been through such a difficult time over the past, more than a year now. Please take the pain away and bless her with a good day and good days ahead.
Father, demonstrate your mercy and kindness toward this precious baby. Help her to rest free of pain and to feel your healing and peace. Restore what has been lost and show us the hope we are counting on in the name of Jesus.
Fight fight and fight some more. You are so pretty. Praying for a beautiful day, get rest, and no vomiting. I love you LG.
