We had a great week at home with an early birthday celebration for Avery, family pictures, and lots of fun and playing with her sisters!
We returned to the hospital this morning to begin Cycle 3 of chemo. Unfortunately, her neutrophil(ANC) count was still too low to start. All of her other counts were within range, so we hope one more week at home will give her time to fully recover. Her ANC is currently 310, so infection and fever are things we will continue to be on the lookout for.
This is once again a bittersweet situation to find ourselves in. While we are thankful for more family time and more time with Avery feeling good, we are also eager to begin treatment and not allow additional time for the cancer cells to spread and grow. At the end of Cycle 3, she will have scans again, and those results will determine if she undergoes an additional 2 Cycles of the chemo she has already received or if she is ready to move to the marrow-ablative chemo with stem cell rescue. She has fought a tough battle so far, but unfortunately it is only the beginning.
We will accept this additional week as a gift and enjoy the next few days trick or treating(if the weather permits) and celebrating Avery's real birthday!
Please continue to pray for:
- No fevers or illnesses
- Being able to begin Cycle 3 next week
- Less side effects and no complications with Cycle 3
- Clean scans and lumbar puncture following Cycle 3
- Successful stem cell collection

Avery is always on my mind and in my prayers. So thankful your family has had several good days. The pictures of Avery and the girls are so wonderful. So thankful you have all been blessed with quality family time. Prayers will continue for each of the needs listed. May God bless you all and I continue to pray for a miracle for this sweet one.
