Sunday, November 17th

Avery seemed to rest a little bit better last night. She woke up a couple of times retching, but never actually vomited. She spiked a fever of 103.5 in the middle of the night. They took cultures again, but everything is still coming back negative. She has kept a fever continuously all day. It has jumped up to 104.3 as the high and only down to 100.6 even with Tylenol every 4 hours. They can't give her Motrin due to her low(compared to healthy ) platelet count.

Due to the continued fever, they have added a 3rd antibiotic, Flagyl, into the mix(in addition to Cefepime and Vancomycin). They did an RVP(Respiratory Virus Profile ) swab of her nose to test for viruses. Until the results come back Monday, she is back on contact precautions. They plan to do a CT scan Monday sometime to ensure there are no signs of infection they are missing.

Her blood counts looked good this morning(no transfusions required). Her potassium was high and her magnesium was still low, so they will be making some minor adjustments. Her ANC is still zero.

We switched to scheduled morphine every 3 hours for pain. This along with one dose for break through pain has seemed to keep her much more comfortable. Her poor gums are white with sores, and her throat is still hurting. If the pain continues to worsen, they will put her on a continuous morphine drip. When she speaks(very rarely), her voice is very hoarse and altered due to the pain and swelling. Getting her pain under better control has allowed her to be awake more today than yesterday. She played the iPad in between naps and watched a little TV.

She has still vomited a few times today, but it seems to be getting a little bit better. We hope to get to the bottom of this fever tomorrow we can alter treatment and get her some relief. Overall, she still feels pretty terrible.

Please continue to pray for:

- Quick count recovery

- No more vomiting

- Determine the source of fever

- Pain management

- Rest
