Tuesday, October 15th

We managed to keep Avery's pain under control for the majority of the day. Her poor mouth is still full of sores and very swollen. This impacts her desire and ability to talk and drink.

She vomited once at the beginning of the day and then again towards the end. This seems to be due to the mucositis and not the same lingering nausea from last week. Her head and throat at so full of excess mucus that she is snoring and rattling when she sleeps and breaths. She is also drooling everywhere due to the swelling and mucus. They added Zyrtec to her regimen in case any of it was allergy related, but we can't tell that it did any good.

She is currently at her full feed rate of 56mL per hour which has us back to where we need to be and where we were before this cycle of chemo began. Hopefully the added nutrition will help increase her strength and energy. She is very easily tired, and normal activities such as painting and crafts leave her spent about half way through.

Her blood counts this morning were good, so no transfusions were needed today. Her ANC had risen to 10(which isn't much to get excited about), but her monocytes had increased tremendously. Hopefully she is headed in the right direction for recovery and will be ready for stem cell harvesting on Friday.

Tomorrow she will receive her last dose of Vincristine for this cycle which is also her last chemo of this cycle. If she recovers quickly and her counts are good, we will begin Cycle 3 next Wednesday.

Tomorrow she will have to have her port deaccessed and reaccessed again. They will only leave you accessed for 7 days at a time to try and cut down on the risk of infection. This is a traumatizing experience for her even when she feels good, so I am betting tomorrow will be extra difficult since she feels so crummy.

Please continue to pray for:

- ANC to rise

- No fever

- Pain to subside and mucositis to heal

- Lessened anxiety over new port access

- No delays or setback for stem cell harvesting

Shon My heart breaks for you and your family. I’m praying that you are courageous because the Lord is with you but I know the reality is you are afraid. It’s ok you have many standing in the gap and lifting you up. I question why families have to endure such pain but know one day we will see the truth and will doubt no more. Praying for rest and strength to keep fighting.
