Day 22

Wednesday, November 27th

Avery finally had a decent night of rest. Twenty minutes after giving her the Melatonin, she was out cold. She didn't even flinch during her nightly injection. She woke up upset during 4am vitals, but she quickly went back to sleep.

By 8am she had spiked a fever of 103.3. Fevers have continued the majority of the day. She required a platelet transfusion today and a mag bolus. Her cultures remain negative, and her C-Diff test came back negative as well. Her ANC is still zero.

She slept well past Noon today. Her little body was exhausted so we were glad for her to catch up on some rest. She had a quiet afternoon, but she perked up a little this evening to open some gifts and eat a couple of bites of ice cream.

She still has a lot of recovering to do before we can move to the next steps. As difficult as it is to believe, the tougher part of treatment is still ahead of us. In order to move forward though, we first need stem cell collection, MRIs, and a LP. Stem cell collection requires her ANC and another number to be high to guarantee a successful collection. The MRI requires she be fever free for a certain amount of time in order to be given general anesthesia long enough for the brain and spine MRI(a few hours). The lumbar puncture requires that her platelets must be at least 100,000(she was at 44,000 today before transfusion).

Please continue to pray for:

- Fevers to stop

- ANC to rise

- Rest and recovery

My love and prayers for you all. Praying Avery's numbers would get to where they need to be and especially for rest.

Thanks for keeping us updated on her progress and what her “next steps” are going to be. Really helps to know specifically what to pray for. I hope everyone else is getting rest as well. We still have so much to be thankful for on this Thanksgiving Day. My love and prayers to all of you. ❤️

Prayers continue for this precious little girl! I pray for no more fevers, for her ANC to rise so she will be able to have the tests that are necessary to move forward with treatments/tests she is going to need in the days ahead. God bless this precious child and her loving family!
