Day 23 - Happy Thanksgiving

Writer: Lori Beth RicheyLori Beth Richey

Thursday, November 28th

Avery was a little more restless during the night waking each time the nurses came in for labs and vitals. She spiked one fever of 101.6. She was able to sleep past 8am this morning.

Her labs all looked good so no transfusions were required. Her cultures continue to be negative, and her ANC has finally risen to 80!

She felt better today than she has in a while although she still tires easily. It was port deaccess/reaccess day. Shortly before 11, she had her noodle removed and was “free” as she says until about 3:45 this afternoon. She got to take a much needed bath with a unicorn bath bomb. After bath, we made her get dressed and leave the room for a little bit. We made some laps around the hall and had our obligatory Thanksgiving picture made.

She was reaccessed shortly before 4pm. She was reluctant at first but ended up doing a good job sitting still. This was her 4th and hopefully last time having to get accessed this stay. The excitement of the day and Benadryl finally got to her and she fell asleep around 4:20. She napped peacefully until 7:30.

She has remained fever free since early this morning. With her ANC on the rise, we should hopefully be looking at much better days ahead. We will be staying at least until Monday which is when they have tentatively scheduled the stem cell collection.

Please continue to pray for:

- No more fever

- ANC to continue to rise

- Continued rest

- Successful stem cell collection

This was certainly a day of giving thanks for answered prayers for this sweet, brave little girl. Being fever free since this morning, her ANC rising and she was able to get out of her room were certainly answered prayers. Thanking God for some encouraging news for Avery, Mom And Dad!
