Avery got caught up on some much needed rest today. She woke up at 7am to play for a while, but then she napped from about 9:30-1:30 pm.
She still remains fever free, and her electrolytes continue to look good. Her platelets were low requiring a transfusion. Her ANC was 1500.

We have been noticing some slight changes in Avery’s hearing so we had another appointment with audiology today. Her hearing has diminished quite a bit from her last checkup. She has mild to moderate hearing loss in one ear and moderate hearing loss in the other. It is already changed enough that they recommend hearing aids in the future. Her future chemo rounds will still contain platinum-based drugs(Cisplatin or Carboplatin) which are the culprit, so we can potentially expect to see additional hearing loss in the future. Although it is a small price to pay in the journey to beat cancer, it is also a heartbreaking reminder of the lasting effects that Avery will always have to battle.
Her CD34 test indicated that she is still not mobilizing the stem cells as needed. They will not be doing pheresis on Tuesday as originally planned. They will redraw her levels to see if Wednesday or Thursday is an option, but they were not optimistic that we would see a drastic change. If pheresis is not a viable option, we will begin discussing a plan B which will likely be bone marrow harvesting. There is still concern that a bone marrow harvest won’t produce enough stem cells for 3 transplant cycles.
Either way we should at be going home in a few days or less.
Please continue to pray for:
- Improved numbers for pheresis
- No additional hearing loss in future cycles
- Protection against germs and illness when we go home
Praying for all of you! May God meet all of Avery’s needs and bless her with total healing. Peace and joy over Christmas! God bless you all!
Continued prayers for sweet Avery, Mom, Dad, Ella and Lexi! So glad she is feeling better and getting much needed rest!
Prayers daily for Avery and her needs, mom and dad, sisters, grandparents, and our Father's love and strength daily.
Your dedication to this blog is amazing! Avery is one precious, brave little girl. But there again, apples never fall far from their tree!! I know you have spoken a lot about stem cells and bone marrow. Is her own cells the only that are usable or could she possibly use donor? Just curious. Thank you for the daily updates. Praying for you all!
Glad she’s able to rest. Continued prayers for all of you. 💕🙏
