Monday, April 5th
Unfortunately Avery's MRIs today showed disease progression. She has no new solid tumors, but she is still dealing with leptomeningeal spread which is showing enhancement in multiple areas. Her case was reviewed in tumor board today, and the radiation oncologist concluded that this was disease growth and not changes due to radiation.
We will meet with our team on Wednesday to review the images and discuss our next steps. Avery's quality of life will be our number one priority as we move forward so we will have some difficult discussions to have and decisions to make. Our plan is to do a repeat MRI in 6 weeks.
Avery has been feeling decent the past couple of weeks. We have weaned her steroids down to the minimal amount, and she continues to be free from vomiting and headaches. Her physical strength and stamina is less that what we would like, but her wit and joy are still there full strength.
Please continue to pray for our medical team as well. They have become like family to us, and they hurt when we hurt.
I have prayed for Avery every morning and night since my friend Jill asked us to pray. I will continue to pray for Avery, your family, and her medical team. I've been through your experience and know God is the ultimate healer!
