Home Sweet Home

Sunday, September 20th

Avery had another restful night last night. I like to credit it to one of our favorite and sweetest night nurses ❤.

Her platelets were 56 today so they gave us a transfusion before being discharged. Her ANC had dropped to 580 yesterday, but it was back up to 880 this morning. The ANC is sometimes a misleading number. It is based on a single sample of the peripheral blood. In Avery's case, the neutrophils all likely traveled towards her g-tube incision trying to begin the healing process which is why we saw a drop yesterday since the blood draw is from her line.

She finished all antibiotic rounds, so the only meds she has right now are the sodium, Neupogen, and pain medicine as needed. She hasn't required any pain medicine since around midnight Thursday.

Getting Avery out of bed and dressed to go home was a little bit of a challenge. She was de-accessed and ready to go, but she didn't want to move since her belly was sore. She was fine once we got her to the car, but when we arrived home, she didn't want to be moved from the car either. The anticipation of the pain was scaring her which was so sad. After some time in bed at home, she finally wanted to get up and make butter slime with Ella and Lexi. She proceeded to getup(with help) to use the restroom multiple times after that though, and each time she gets up seems to be a little easier.

She fell asleep around 9pm after a long day with no nap. The only bad part of being at home is giving her the nightly Neupogen injection(we get the IV version at the hospital). Luckily she only woke for a minute(very mad) before drifting back off to sleep.

We plan to enjoy our time at home as much as possible. Since we will be inpatient on Friday, we are going to have an early birthday celebration tomorrow night for Ella and Lexi. Avery helped pick out a special cake and presents to give them since she will miss their big day. We are hopeful for a nice quiet night full of good sleep😴.

Please continue to pray for:

- Rest

- No illnesses and infections

- No delays to starting Cycle 2

- Complete healing

So thankful that Avery got to go home and celebrate with the sisters for their birthday. We ask for no infection or illnesses, no delays in starting Cycle 2, plenty of rest for all, and complete healing for Avery. We ask all of these things for Avery in the precious name of Jesus. Amen
