Relapse Cycle 2 - Day 5

Writer: Lori Beth RicheyLori Beth Richey

Sunday, October 4th

Avery had an ok night of rest last night. She woke up angry during vitals once but settled back down fairly quickly. I had to wake her a little earlier than usual this morning to take her to the bathroom and wipe her down with CHG wipes...needless to say she wasn't happy. We made our way down to the OR at 8:00 to get her stitches removed. By 9:30, we were back in our room. She was agitated, but the medicine they gave her in the PACU helped her sleep a couple more hours.

She was even less happy when she finally woke and realized there was a big bandage on her head and stomach. We have to keep those on until tomorrow as there was some bleeding from the stitch removal since they had been in so long. Her platelets were borderline this morning, so they went ahead and gave her a transfusion especially since her wounds were bleeding a little.

By lunch time, she had really perked up. We worked on Legos, played with slime, and she had fun being silly with her nurse(MK - she said she liked you after you left today❤).

Her stomach pain is occurring less and less, so hopefully we are almost over that hurdle. Her sodium has remained stable between 137 and 139, so we are beginning to wean her IV fluids and add the oral sodium supplements back in.

She received her last dose of Temozolomide tonight. She only has a couple more days before she will be done with all chemo this round. We are ready to move on to recovery, scans, and the next steps towards healing!

Please continue to pray for:

- Relief from stomach cramps

- Continued stable sodium levels

- Tumor and disease reduction from chemo

- Rest
