Relapse Cycle 2 - Day 6

Writer: Lori Beth RicheyLori Beth Richey

Monday, October 5th

Thankfully the nights continue to get a little bit better each night. We stayed up later last night and were able to get one set of vitals done and the cap changed on her line before falling asleep. She only stirred a little during 4am vitals.

Avery's hemoglobin and platelets looked great from the transfusions she received the past couple of days. Her sodium is staying in the correct range with the oral supplements, so they were able to turn off her additional fluids. Her ANC was 410 today.

She had a great morning playing.. We started a new Lego set and played with slime. She and Chaplain Paul had fun tossing toys at one another... which resulted in a ton of laughter and giggles coming from our room.

Avery's stomach cramps seemed to worsen some today. They were much worse this afternoon/evening than they were in the morning. We tried giving her Benadryl with the thought that they may have been due to a dose of Reglan she received last week, but that didn't seem to really give any relief. We will continue to explore other possibilities and treatments.

She received her 6th dose of Etoposide tonight and will finish that course tomorrow. She started on IV Neupogen this morning to help her counts bounce back as they begin to plummet. She also received her monthly Pentamidine as well.

We are still waiting to hear which day she will received her stem cell boost, For now, we are just watching and waiting to see how she responds as her counts bottom out.

Please continue to pray for:

- Relief from stomach cramps

- Protection from illness and infections

- No fevers

- Rest

You do know you have a best-seller book here when this is better! I believe every experience however bad it may be, is preparing you to help someone else later in life survive the same experience. I pray for you all every morning and night; I think of Avery during the day. I pray for the twins - - - for them missing their sister and Mother. I pray for Shon as he continues to work, but I don't know how he does. Added to my prayer list is Lloyd and his surgery; for his recovery and for Deb's peace and her worry for you and Avery. And I read with anticipation your posts and then add your praye…
