Relapse Cycle 2 - Day 7

Writer: Lori Beth RicheyLori Beth Richey

Tuesday, October 6th

Avery slept well the entire night until she woke up at 5:30 am vomiting. After some Benadryl, she was able to go back to sleep. This is the first time she has gotten sick this entire cycle which is a huge win for us. Every other round of chemo, she has started vomiting less than 24 hrs in.

All of her numbers looked good this morning. She is still having the stomach cramps, so they add in a daily dose of Gabapentin to see if it helps. Initially it didn't seemed like it helped, but a few hours after her pain seemed to have subsided. Hopefully this will give her the relief she needs.

She started the day off a little cranky. As the day progressed though, her mood improved tremendously. She played virtual Bingo with Smile-A-Mile and won a $10 gift card to Target. She worked on a Lego set. She walked to the big window to write her name, and she even walked to the gift shop to pick out a treat. She giggled and played with her nurses and tried to terrify them with her toy spider.

Tonight, she received her last dose of oral Etoposide. She only has one more IV chemo infusion to receive, and then this cycle will be complete. She has scans scheduled in 2 weeks and will likely begin radiation shortly after.

She fell asleep around 7 tonight, exhausted from an overall good day!

Please continue to pray for:

- Relief from stomach cramps

- Protection from illness and infections

- No fevers

- Rest

I love her sweet smile! I think I would be cranky too if I were going through her ordeal; God bless that precious girl! I love the pics of her; thank you for sharing with us. I know you have the patience of Job! I wonder how you are able to stay so strong, and then I remember that the Lord is there with you and He will see this all through. She sure is enjoying those spiders! I love that she enjoys her games, walks, and most of all you being there loving her!

Prayers for all that you mentioned, and even more prayers for all the coming days to be AVERY'S best days; no pain, no N&V, no…

Thrilled that she had a break from so many wrong things and felt like pranking the nurses. So good to see her feel like walking around some. Praying it continues to go this way and only get better and better. Love you!
