Scan Day

Tuesday, October 20th

Praise God! Avery's MRIs showed reduction in tumor/disease in both her brain and spine. The team was very happy with her response, and they said we would be very pleased once we see the actual images compared to last month's.

Avery slept well last night and continues to remain fever free. She is now completely off of the morphine drip and will only receive pain medicine if needed. Her g-tube site continues to heal nicely as well.

Her platelets were 35, so she received a transfusion early this morning. Her ANC was 690. All other labs look good at this point.

She had a great morning playing, and her only complaint was being hungry since she was NPO. We went down for scans at 1, and she barely put up a fuss when I had to leave her. Unfortunately, they didn't bring her back in the same state I left her. She came back to the room fighting mad, and it took her a good long while to calm. Thankfully her afternoon Benadryl helped her get in a good nap until about 7pm.

Tomorrow morning, she will be transported over to UAB for her radiation anesthesia simulation. We should get more information on her start date for radiation as well. In the next couple of days, we will review her scans with our oncologist and talk about plans(potentially) for weekly outpatient chemo during radiation.

We plan to slowly restart her feeds tomorrow afternoon and work on switching back to oral sodium supplements. She has 4 more days of all of her rounds of antibiotics(Cefapime, Flagyl, and Vancomycin), so it will be Saturday before we get to go home.
