Avery slept fairly well last night. She got up twice to use the restroom, but otherwise slept. Her platelets were 36 this morning, so she received a platelet transfusion around 5am. Her sodium and other electrolytes looked good. Her ANC was 20.
She felt OK the first part of the morning, She complained of stomach cramps, but attempted all of her normal fun activities. After much negotiation(she's so much better at it than me), I was able to get her to put the cardiac leads on for the stem cell boost. She got all of her pre-meds, and the boost started around 11:30. It lasted less than 10 minutes. Avery did well until the very end when the Benadryl kicked in and she got mad about everything. Shortly after she fell asleep and slept for a few hours. Just like during transplant, she now smells like cream corn from the preservative used when freezing the stem cells.
I may have explained this before, but we collected Avery's stem cells in early January for her autogolous bone marrow(stem cell) transplant. She had 2 remaining bags of cells... one of which we used today. Stem cells are immature cells. Once they are transplanted back in the body, it takes 9-12 days for them to engraft. Then they decide what kind of cell they want to become: red blood cell(energy), white blood cell(fights infection) or platelet(band aid). This boost should help aid in Avery's count recovery resulting in a faster growth of white cells and less need for red blood cell and platelet transfusions after engraftment.
Avery felt like playing some after she woke from her nap. You could tell that she was beginning to tire and feel bad as the day went on. She was crying with stomach cramps when she fell asleep tonight.

Please continue to pray for:
- Stomach cramping
- Count recovery
- No illness or infections
- Improved scans
Bless her!!! I know she will be so glad when the cramps stop! She is a miracle child and not a day passes that I don't think of how God chose you guys for her parents. She is lucky to have the support and loving family she has, and I know how blessed you are to have her. Sending my prayers on this rainy night for all you ask for-------------never do you ask for anything but for Avery to get better! God hears our prayers, Lori Beth, and He is already there tomorrow! Praying too for rest for Mama and a good sleep for you both.
