Avery slept soundly through the night and woke around 9am this morning. She had another good day with no sickness and lots of fun. She was tired this afternoon and took a good long nap. She continues to do great with vitals and mouthcare.

Today was her last day of Carboplatin, and she is officially half way through with her chemo! Tomorrow will bring some new challenges though. She will be given Etoposide and Thiotepa. She has previously received Etoposide. The biggest issue with it is the risk of allergic reaction. They will pre-med her with Benadryl and keep epinephrine in her room. The nurse will stay in the room the first 15 minutes. She will get vitals every 15 minutes for the first hour, every 30 minutes for the 2nd hour, and then I believe hourly for the 3rd hour. The 2nd drug she will receive is Thiotepa. This medicine secretes from the skin and can cause 3rd degree burns. She will be given baths every 6 hours from the start of the Thiotepia until 24hrs after her last dose finishes. All dressings (line and NG) will have to be changed along with all clothes and linens. We are supposed to wear gowns and gloves when with are touching her. This medicine is also known to cause very bad mucositis as well as wipe out your fertility. The Etoposide/Thiotepa combo will be give for the next 3 days.
Please continue to pray for:
- No nausea and vomiting
- Protection from infection
- That she will tolerate the baths and dressing changes(especially the middle of the night ones)

Praying all goes well with the treatment. Praying for strength for all of you too. 💕
She has a smile that lights up the room, and we wonder how she can find a smile on the days when she goes through so many painful treatments! My prayer is that everything that you listed, and all in your heart and mind that you didn't list is granted! I can't begin to imagine your worry, fear, and dread, but I do admire your courage, love, and unfailing concern and love for that sweet girl! And I do include Shon in that admiration; he is a good daddy, and God bless him and the two little girls waiting at home for this to end and to bring Avery and Mommy home. And prayers too for the grandparents who l…
Continuing to pray for specific needs. Praying also for rest and strength for you & Shon as you faithfully and tirelessly take care of this precious child!
Heartbreaking that anyone should have to go through this, but especially a child. Prayers for miracles, complete healing, protection from side effects and strength for those of you caring for her and watching this day after day.
